Residential ductwork and dryer vent cleaning

Indoor Air Quality

Indoor air quality is one concern that homeowners have neglected for years. Your heating and cooling system is the lungs of your home. The system takes air in and breathes air out.

Through normal occupation in a home, we generate a great deal of contaminants and air pollutants, such as dander, dust, and chemicals. These contaminants are pulled into the HVAC system and re-circulated 5 to 7 times per day, on average. Over time, this re-circulation causes a build-up of contaminants in the duct work.

While dirty ducts don’t necessarily mean unhealthy air in your home, school or workplace, they may be contributing to larger health issues or harboring contaminants that could cause serious problems for people with respiratory health conditions, autoimmune disorders or some environmental allergies.

Energy Savings

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, 25 to 40 percent of the energy used for heating or cooling a home is wasted. Contaminants in the heating and cooling system cause it to work harder and shorten the life of your system. Although filters are used, the heating and cooling system still gets dirty through normal use.

When an HVAC system is clean, it doesn’t have to work as hard to maintain the temperature you desire. As a result, less energy is used, leading to improved cost-effectiveness.

We recommend cleaning your ductwork if:

1. You or a family member has bad allergies or any type of breathing issues.

2. You have recently completed remolding in your home where a lot of dust was airborne.

3. If you have pets that shed living in your home and you have not had them cleaned in the passed two years.

4. If you have had water at any time leak into the ductwork.

Dryer vent cleaning and repairs

REDUCED FIRE RISK

The obvious benefit of having a professional dryer vent cleaning is to reduce your fire risk. Lint is an extremely flammable substance, and an estimated 15,000 houses burn down each year because of it. While cleaning the dryer trap yourself is a good start, it’s no substitute for a deep professional cleaning.

FEWER REPAIRS

Clogged dryer vents put a lot of wear and tear on the appliance, leading to a higher risk of a breakdown. Dryers aren’t cheap, so most residents end up calling a repair technician to fix the problem. Over time, these repairs start to add up, costing more than a professional cleaning or even a new dryer. If you find yourself calling for a dryer repair a second time, you should ask us about a vent cleaning.

SHORTER DRYING TIMES

A dryer that’s clogged with lint takes more time to dry clothes. That’s because lint buildup makes it difficult for the humid air to escape, allowing moisture to persist. By having your dryer vents professionally cleaned, you can shorten drying times and spend less time waiting on those clean clothes.

LOWER ENERGY BILLS

When your dryer takes longer to dry clothes due to a lint clog, it ends up using more energy. Naturally, this means spending more money on utilities. Having your dryer vents regularly maintained meaning higher energy efficiency, lower energy bills, and less money spent just to dry your clothes.

With so many benefits associated with a professional dryer vent cleaning, why wouldn’t you enlist the help of Waycaster Mechanical? Contact us today to schedule your dryer vent cleaning. You can sleep easier knowing your home is safe and your energy bills are in check.
